April, 2011

Dear St. Catharine Families,

As we approach the Easter season, the faculty joins me in wishing a very blessed Easter to all our families.  The students have spent time during this Lenten season in prayer and reflection, Stations of the Cross, Penance Service, and service (Clothes for Haiti, sponsored by Student Council and Food Drive for St. Vincent de Paul, sponsored by our HEART groups).

Easter is very late this year, so we are urging our students to be diligent in their studies.  When we return from Easter vacation, we will have only one month left in school, so it is important that everyone gives their best effort during this last quarter.  Progress Reports will be distributed on Friday.  As a reminder to our parents, teachers are always at school until at least 3:30.  If your child has questions about work, please encourage them to contact the teacher regarding these questions or work.  They are always willing to help!

Please note on the Progress Reports that there are no grades for Music.  As you know, Miss Tidball left in the middle of February.  At that point, we were half-way through the second quarter.  Grades also left with her.  Mrs. Molnar (the Music teacher) has been with us since that time, and the students have been very involved in music classes, especially singing.  Since she has been with us for only a half of a quarter, it was not appropriate or possible for her to accurately give grades for music.  She will, however, be responsible for grades in Music during the fourth quarter.

Included in this packet is information on bus reimbursement from Columbus City Schools.  Any student who lives beyond two (2) miles from school (and lives in the Columbus City School district boundaries) can qualify for this reimbursement (for the 2010 – 11 school year).  It is imperative that this be submitted to the school no later than Friday, April 8.  At that point, I will take them to the Transportation Office.  They have to be personally submitted to their office by an administrator.  I can’t reiterate enough that if they are not in my hands by that date, you will not receive reimbursement.  Deadline dates are extremely important to them….there are no exceptions.

Please read the calendar (and website) for important dates….as usual, April is a busy month at school.

As always, please feel free to call with any concerns/ questions.

Sincerely,

Janet L. Weisner, Principal
